Doodle Drawer
Manipulating light and shadow to find drawing inspiration
The Project.
The Doodle Drawer is a tool designed for amateur artists to overcome artist block and gain drawing inspiration. There are 2 rotating discs stacked on top of each other that can be manually rotated separately. Below the 2 discs is a light source, and the light shines upwards and projects changing abstract shapes onto the user’s paper. The projected shapes constantly change as the user manipulates one or both of the disc positions. Then, the user can trace the abstract shapes projected onto the paper and use this as a jumping off point for their piece of art.
The People.
This project was completed independently as a part of the Interdisciplinary Projects Lab course at Wesleyan University.
